Permanent Supportive Housing Community Breaks Ground

Catholic Charities of Eastern Washington (CCEW) celebrated the groundbreaking for Pasco’s very first Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) community on Thursday, February 3, 2022. Pasco Haven will be a 60-unit affordable housing complex, for chronically homeless individuals. PSH complexes offer a long-term housing option for people experiencing homelessness, embedded with on-site support services for residents that instill hope and bring stability for a brighter tomorrow.

The celebration of this milestone was recognized through the regional office in Walla Walla. Catholic Charities Walla Walla Director Tim Meliah stated, “we are excited to support our neighbors in Pasco who will help to champion our mission to solve homelessness throughout Washington state.”

Catholic Charities believes that every human being deserves to live with dignity and has a right to safe and affordable housing. Through client service programs, CCEW provides vital community resources, so that people can succeed in maintaining housing, and are granted opportunities that will ensure housing security in the future.

Pasco Haven Apartments are fully equipped with on-site support services that provide residents with clinically trained case managers, licensed counselors, and peer support. Pasco Haven will change the lives of individuals who have experienced the traumas of intergenerational poverty, chronic homelessness, and substance abuse through on-site access to counseling, case management, healthcare and substance abuse treatment, employment readiness, skills-classes and more.

We are grateful for the support of our regional office in Walla Walla and hope to explore more opportunities to build affordable housing properties throughout our 13 regions in Eastern Washington. Pasco Haven serves as a model for the future of supportive housing in rural communities around the state. Catholic Charities is committed to engaging with community partners and local governments throughout Eastern Washington to provide PSH and community support and social services for people in need.
