Remodel of Religious Education Building Completed
Father Manuel Nicasio, pastor of Santa Catarina, Ixtahuacan, reports that the second (and final) phase of the reconstruction of the Religious Education Building has been completed, and within budget. The Guatemala Commission of the Spokane Diocese sends heartfelt gratitude to all supporters of this project.
The second phase of work involved replacing the roof, ceiling, and dry wall, and then painting, adding doors and windows, extending the plumbing, and installing an electrical system. Phase one included stabilization of the building.
Parishioners of all ages are now meeting in a safe and beautiful environment, thanks to numerous donors throughout the diocese of Spokane and the volunteer labor of many parishioners of Santa Catarina.
Father Nicasio and parish leaders sent the following appreciative words (along with a complete and detailed project report).
“We deeply appreciate the substantial support you provide our Parish of Santa Catalina de Alejandría, and, especially on this occasion, for financing the second phase of reconstruction of the Religious Education Building.
The rooms of the building are now in better condition to carry out formation for the children, as well as for the entire parish, since choirs, catechists, ministers, readers, and others are already using the spaces.
The building looks better, is more comfortable and hygienic, traps less heat and dust, and, above all, is safer.
We are grateful to God that our project turned out as planned. Thank you for your commitment of solidarity and your active help with our parish. Undoubtedly, this work will serve as an instrument for the proclamation of the Good News and the Church’s saving mission of the conversion of souls.
We are infinitely grateful to you, our Spokane Diocese benefactors. Your donation has been very valuable and appreciated by every faithful parishioner that has entered the building. Our best wishes for each of you, may God and Mary, our Blessed Mother, fill you with happiness, health, love and peace.
Greetings and a fraternal hug from the Parish of Antigua Santa Catarina Ixtahuacán, Sololá, Guatemala.”
