Wild horses could not keep me from the Eucharistic Mass and Procession in June. Jesus’ presence amongst us is such an incredible blessing. I watched people in the streets kneel as the Eucharistic Procession moved past them from the cathedral to MSU the last time. It moved me to tears.
– Thane Belen, St. Michael, Grand Ledge
There is something beautiful about a large number of people joining together to worship Christ in a profound way, and that’s exactly what I expect to see at this Eucharistic Procession. Catholics should be proud to proclaim their faith publicly, and what better way to do so than to gather at an event like this and worship him in such a profound way?
– Austin Fox, St. Mary’s, Westphalia
Following Jesus. That’s what we’re called to do. And what a privilege it is to follow Jesus in Eucharistic Procession! It is also a wonderful way to publicly profess our faith in Jesus Christ — despite what the world may think or say about us. Jesus Christ is Lord!
– Deacon Todd Dahlberg, St. Joseph Shrine, Brooklyn
The Eucharist to me is the heart of Jesus. His Sacred Heart on display in the monstrance in adoration. His Sacred Heart lifted high during the consecration at Mass. Receiving the Eucharist is an exchange of hearts: his Sacred Heart and mine. An exchange of hearts. A covenant. A profession of love. His divinity enters our humanity so that we might become more and more like his Sacred Heart.
– Anna Watson, MSU student
The Eucharist is very important and the backbone of my faith. We are very blessed that Jesus loved us so much as to be with us in the form of bread and wine. St. Therese has helped me in deepening my faith, after receiving Christ in the Eucharist she often stated, “It is no longer I who lives but Christ who lives in me.” I began doing this, and I have found a great sense of peace in doing so.
– Wesley Good, MSU student
The Eucharist means simply everything to me.
It is my life, my joy, my hope.
I will never forget my first Eucharistic Procession at St. John the Evangelist. My husband Chris and I had just joined the parish and this was such a great opportunity for fellowship in the making of the tissue “carpets” for the procession in church. I was able to lay down and surrender my talents, heart, and soul before our Lord, because it is all his!
– Monica Darga, St. John the Evangelist, Fenton
I’m participating in our upcoming Corpus Christi Procession for three reasons:
First I see it as an opportunity to adore, praise, and glorify our God. I will praise and glorify God for the gift he is to me. To adore him and glorify him because, by his holy cross, he has redeemed the world. It’s a chance for me to thank God for all the blessings I have and to humbly ask God to continue to walk with me — to guide me, support me and strengthen me — on this journey through life.
I also see it as an opportunity to share this Good News of Christ’s redeeming power with others. To publicly display our Father, who created us, his Son, who saved us, and the Holy Spirit, who advocates for us.
Finally, I see it as an opportunity to bring people closer to Christ by inviting their participation along with me.
– Philip Guyeskey, deacon at St. Gerard in Lansing
I really thought it was amazing how we were not even planning on attending and then we served during the procession. It was an awesome experience!
It was incredibly moving to be a public witness of faith as we processed down the street. Then, to be in the gymnasium and feel the Holy Spirit amongst fellow parishioners was so peaceful. All my worries dissipated, and I felt wholeheartedly that I was doing what I was meant to do at that moment.
– Boston Conn, 15-year-old from St. John the Evangelist, Fenton
It was an incredible experience that brought meaning to the scripture that says, ‘Where two or three are gathered in my name, there I am in the midst of them.”
– Eric Conn, St. John the Evangelist, Fenton
The Eucharist is the most beautiful reality of life. The Eucharist is my reason for getting out of bed. In the Eucharist, I find my only hope, purpose, and peace. I am in complete awe of the profound closeness of Christ as he offers his Sacred Heart as the Eucharist.
– James Tennes, St. Mary and St. Ann Parish of Charlotte and Bellevue
The Eucharist is so important to me because it is truly God. When I walk into a space where the Eucharist is present, what I see is bread, but what my heart encounters is the truest love. The presence of God in the Eucharist is undeniable.
– Paige Kutas, 17-year-old parishioner of St. Mary Parish, Charlotte
The Eucharist gives us the opportunity for a personal encounter with Jesus and the graces he gives are ones you didn’t even realize you needed.”
– Jill Stockford, St. Elizabeth Parish, Tecumseh
