Things to Do – February 2024

The Knights of Columbus Council #2659 from St. Joseph Catholic Church in Howell will host a Wild Game Dinner on Feb. 3 beginning at 6 p.m. Try exotic game such as antelope, caribou, wild boar, and more! A gun raffle conducted by Peacemakers will be held and, as a special main event auction — a Ted Nugent-signed guitar will be up for bid! Proceeds will support Michigan Outdoor Wishmakers, whose efforts take children, young adults, and veterans with illnesses and/or disabilities on hunting and fishing adventures.

St. Mary Catholic School in Pinckney will host a Mardi Gras auction on Feb. 3 from 6-11 p.m. 

The Owosso Knights of Columbus hosts its monthly broasted chicken dinner on Feb. 4 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at 1259 E. Main Street in Owosso. This all-you-can-eat buffet includes a salad bar, potatoes, dressing, vegetables, beverages, and dessert for only $15 per person!

Are You Smarter Than Your 8th Grade Nun? A special benefit to help fund new furniture for the St. Francis Retreat Center will be held on Feb. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Lansing Catholic High School auditorium. Join us for a fun night where how well you know your faith may win you a prize! Our host, "Sister Nancy Greco," will take us back to catechism class for an interactive comedy game show, where willing audience members compete to see who was paying attention and who was daydreaming in school. St. Mary-Pinckney will host the Stations of the Cross on Feb. 23. The event begins at 2:50 p.m. with the school children and 7 p.m. with parish members.

St. Agnes in Fowlerville will host a trivia night to support its youth programs on Feb. 24 from 6–9 p.m. in the Lothamer Parish Center, 855 E. Grand River Avenue, Fowlerville. Cost is $10.00 per person (teams of eight for $80.00). Bring food and snacks for your table. No outside drinks allowed. To register, call 517-223-8684. 

Immaculate Conception Church in Milan is hosting a Lenten retreat to take place on Mar. 2. The event begins with 9 a.m. Mass and then speaker Christine Alfaro will discuss “Surrendering All Things." There is no charge for the retreat, which includes a luncheon. Please call 439-2030 to register.


Special Needs Ministry

Our February Special Needs Mass is Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. in the St. Francis Retreat Center Chapel at 703 E. Main Street in Dewitt. After the Mass, please join us in the dining room for refreshments. Masses are ASL Interpreted at 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church located at 530 Elizabeth Street in Ann Arbor on the first, second, and third Sundays of the month.

Every Sunday, the 11:00 a.m. Mass is ASL Interpreted at Holy Redeemer Church at 1227 E. Bristol Road in Burton.

We have free monthly Mass Propers for those with low vision or blindness. Please contact Cathy Blatnik, coordinator of special needs ministry, at 517-381-1410 or blatsie63@yahoo.com to learn how to receive a copy.

There will be an ASL Interpreted Mass Feb. 3 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mary Church at 201 N. Westphalia Street in Westphalia.

There will be a Deaf Mass on Feb. 17 at 4 p.m. in the St. Mary Cathedral Church Crypt on 219 Seymour Avenue in Lansing.

There will be an ASL Interpreted Mass on Feb. 24 at 4:30 p.m. at St. Gerard Church at 4437 W. Willow Highway in Lansing.


Fish Fries

The Dewitt Knights of Columbus #7237 will hold its annual fish fries every Friday beginning Feb. 16 from 4-6:30 p.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church. Dinner will include fried and baked fish, breadsticks, french fries, and a vegetable. Cheese pizza also will be available. Pricing is to be determined.

The Gaines Knights of Columbus #12186 will be holding their annual Lenten fish dinners each Friday, Feb. 16-Mar. 29, from 5-7 p.m. Fish and/or shrimp, french fries, soups, salads, and desserts all are available for dine-in or take-out. Old St. Pat's of Ann Arbor will host its 46th annual Lenten Friday Fish Fries from Feb. 16-Mar. 22, 4:30-7 p.m. at 5671 Whitmore Lake Road in Ann Arbor. Dinner includes fish, potato or macaroni & cheese, a salad bar, and beverages. Prices will be determined, including discounts for seniors and children 12 and under.

Owosso Knights of Columbus hosts its Lenten Friday Fish Fries Feb. 16-Mar. 29, 4:30-7:30 p.m. at 1259 E. Main St. Dinner includes two pieces of fish, fries or baked potato, coleslaw, and roll for $12. Shrimp dinners and combos are available.

St. Mary, Pinckney will commence its Lenten fish fries on Feb. 16 from 4–7 p.m. Dine-in or carry-out options available.

The Knights of Columbus from St. Peter Parish, Eaton Rapids hosts its fish fries from Feb. 16-Mar. 22. Details will follow on the parish website at spceatonrapids.org.
