The Pillar

A recent article in the august British newspaper, The Daily Telegraph, informed readers that “[St. Thomas] More was martyred by the Vatican in 1935”. It was a humorous reminder of how mainstream media can often misreport the Church out of blithe ignorance as well as, sometimes, animus. So, where to turn for coverage and comment upon matters Catholic that are informed and accurate? Let us make the following recommendation: The Pillar Podcast.

The Pillar is an independent Catholic news outlet that combines investigative journalism and informed commentary focused upon the Catholic Church in the United States and beyond. It was founded in 2021 by Denver-based J.D. Flynn and Washington, D.C.-based Ed Condon. Both are experienced canon lawyers turned accomplished journalists. That synergy results in Catholic content that is as faithful to sound doctrine as it is to sound editorial principles. Hence a weekly podcast conversation between J.D. and Ed that is as fearless as it is fair as it is, so very often, funny. Certainly, it is worth a listen. Episodes typically run from 30 to 60 minutes and are available for free, with bonus content for paid subscribers.
