Monday Morning Alka-Seltzer - August 2013
Envy is never alone. It’s always accompanied by resentment and spite.
“If you don’t know where you’re going you may not get to where you are going.”
(Don’t just love him?)
Is prayer all about disposing God to do things for me or is it about putting myself at the disposal of God? Asking this second question makes our fundamental consideration obvious. Prayer is really all about locating ourselves in relation to God, not the other way around. Furthermore, even though the Lord’s Prayer appears at first to be about what we want from God, it is, upon deeper refection, really all about how I can place myself at God’s disposal… what I can do to respond to His will, His invitation. Prayer ought not to revolve around “It’s all about me” but rather “It’s all about God.”
