Youth Discipleship Team begins preparation for CYC

The Diocese of Spokane Catholic Youth Conference 2020 is scheduled for March 6-8. The theme, “Remain,” is drawn from the Gospel of John, “Remain in Me, as I remain in you…bear much fruit and become my disciples.” (John 15:1-17) Last fall a group of youth from throughout the diocese embraced this incredible invitation and challenge by volunteering as youth leaders for CYC. The cohort of high school youth, known as the Youth Discipleship Team, gathered for its first of three weekends including CYC. Following the completion of an application process, these teens took time to pray and build community at Sacred Heart Parish in Othello. As servant leaders, they will continue to train and develop resources to make CYC a relevant encounter with Jesus Christ for their peers.

Help us to reach our goal of serving 400 youth at CYC 2020. Here is a five-step strategy to make CYC possible for the high school youth in your parish: 1) Contact your priest or parish youth minister for more information; 2) Identify a group leader and help them coordinate a plan to get youth to CYC; 3) Identify and register youth for CYC; 4) Help coordinate transportation to and from the event; and 5) Make a plan to continue the journey of discipleship with the youth of your parish. Contact the Office of Evangelization at evangelize@dioceseofspokane.org or call 509-358-7314 for more information on how to make a plan to get youth from your parish to CYC 2020.
