Monday Morning Alka-Seltzer - January 2015

January 26, 2014

There are those who think that their thoughts, words, and actions have the same value as those of anyone else’s. But that is manifestly not the case. The problem is: “Who or what evaluates the goodness or the evilness of our thoughts, words, and actions?” If your answer is that everyone decides for themselves then you live in a world of subjectivity in which truth and goodness are unreal and irrelevant and love is but a sentiment. Everything is then ruled by feelings.

Sound familiar?

These are the words from song sung during World Youth Day back in 1995 and repeated at the end of Pope Francis’ just concluded trip to the Philippines:

For God so loved the world

He gave us His only Son

Jesus Christ our Savior

His most precious one

He has sent us His message of love

And sends those who hear

To bring the message to everyone

In a voice loud and clear

Let us tell the world of His love

The greatest love the world has known

Search the world for those who have walked

Astray and lead them home

Fill the world's darkest corners

With His light from up above

Walk every step, Every mile, Every road

And tell the world! Tell the world of His love!

“and lead us not into temptation”

O Lord, when I am being tempted

be with me,

lead me in my time of temptation,

lead me out of temptation,

protect me in my temptation,

strengthen me in my time of temptation,

for I am weak and I need You.
