Bishop Boyea's Year of the Family
“As the family goes, so goes the nation, and so goes the whole world in which we live.”
— Pope Saint John Paul II
The family is the domestic church and the foundation of society. It is where future generations are born, educated, and formed, and where vocations to the priesthood and religious life most often take root. So, how can we strengthen our families? How can we help them grow in holiness and happiness?

Beginning this September, Bishop Earl Boyea invites you to join him for his Year of the Family.
This new weekly catechetical series, introduced by Bishop Boyea, will feature short films showcasing families from across the Diocese of Lansing. Each family will share how they are striving to live the Catholic faith more fully in their daily lives. Throughout the year, the series will explore family prayer, education, liturgical living, hospitality, discipline, and works of charity.
While especially helpful for families with children at home, the Year of the Family is truly for everyone. Each of us belongs to a family, whatever our stage of life, and each of us is called to grow in love and holiness. Together, we’ll reflect on the joys, challenges, and sorrows of family life.
Bishop Boyea’s prayer is that the Year of the Family will encourage and inspire our families to live in ever greater harmony with God and with one another.
Subscribers will receive a weekly text or email from Bishop Boyea with his reflection on the week’s theme, along with a short film featuring a family living it out in everyday life.
